Indian Railways Seat Availability – The Best Option for Train Tickets on IRCTC Website
Indian trains are always in great demand because of a large number of passengers depending on the Indian rail network for most of their commutation purposes. This is mainly because of the easy accessibility and cheap fares of travel to every nook and cranny of the country. The great demand for trains has made it necessary to check the Indian Railways seat availability before reserving tickets.
There are only a limited number of seats on trains, and so only a limited number of people can get to travel by trains on confirmed seats. For short-distance travel, you can at least use the general compartment, which is quite congested and crowded. This is not practical for long travels, as it makes you too tired and weary. For long-distance travels, you are allotted a berth when your ticket is confirmed, and in case no seats are available, you are put in RAC or waiting list. Under these options, you are allotted a berth only if enough cancellations are made. Under RAC, you will be offered a seat where you can sit and travel, but under waiting list, you will not be allowed to travel.
In case your ticket is not confirmed, do not worry, as there is still hope left that your ticket can be upgraded. Each time cancellations are made, your reservation status changes, and you have to keep track of it by checking the PNR status. The Railway Ministry is trying its part to combat the problem of Indian Railways seat availability and ensure seats to all passengers.
